The HTC Evo 4G is a device that introduces a lot of firsts when compared to other North American handsets. This is the first Android phone with a front-facing camera, the first with an HDMI-out port, and the aforementioned 4G capabilities should please a lot of fans looking to get more out of their mobile data. The 8megapixel camera it comes equipped with can shoot HD-quality video. Playback of HD video is also available and can be fed to an external source using the onboard HDMI-out port. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front that should come in handy for video chatting down the line.

Sony Ericsson’s second mini Android handset is for those that hate prodding a tiny screen. Sony Ericsson has taken the Xperia X10 Mini, bolted a QWERTY keyboard on the back, and made the world’s smallest Android phone into a “communication device”. In reality this just means it’s easier to type on the phone, and given it only packs a 2.2-inch capacitive screen, it’s a welcome addition.

Overall the Samsung Galaxy S is the fastest phone available at this time. Samsung has really given this phone the best it has to offer, including a brand new processor and an improved display technology called Super AMOLED. The processor, RAM, video drivers and graphics hardware make transitioning from application to application a breeze. Video playback for a 480p film is as clear and fluid as it would be to watch it on a large HD monitor, with better color and contrast. The screen sensitivity requires the lightest touch to select items, better than the Nexus One and the iPhone 4.

Announced at Mobile World Congress 2010, the Motorola Cliq XT is Moto’s fifth Android offering in the United States and T-Mobile’s fifth overall. Overall, it offers a sleeker design with a capable onscreen keyboard courtesy of Swype, a more full-featured and connected media player, and thankfully better performance than the Motorola Backflip. The CLIQ XT comes with a 3.1-inch screen, touch sensitive directional pad, 5MP camera with LED Flash, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and overall is a solid but not overly impressive device.

The HTC Droid Eris is the second Verizon Wireless’ Google Android phone after the Motorola Droid. Where the Droid was flashy and high-end, the Droid Eris offers a simpler, slimmer design that lacks a physical keyboard. You get the same Android features, but it all comes at bargain price. With a few stylistic changes including a taller and thinner frame, call and end hardware buttons and coloration differences, the HTC Droid Eris is essentially the HTC Hero on Verizon Wireless.
